The Mucky Pups Family
2025 sees us going into our thirteenth year of business and we still have as much passion and drive for our Mucky Pups family as we did when we began back in 2013!
The business was inspired by a passion for animals and now over 30 years hands on experience with a large variety of different animals and breeds of dog via fostering, adoption, volunteering for and working for various rescues and sanctuaries.
Here is a little bit about us all........
Dee Dee (Dexter), Max, Buddy and Axl are our four gorgeous boy doggos, and we have a little teeny dot called Panda.
Unfortunately over the last few years our two beautiful girls Huskamute Willow and Whippet Honey have gained their silver harnesses and ran over Rainbow Bridge and most recently we lost our Husky Oz who was our amazing old man and we are lost without him. We miss them more than words can say and they are some of the dogs you can see on the banner photo of this page as Mucky Pups would not have been Mucky Pups without our stoic little madams and tap dancing old man!
Dee Dee is our little almost fifteen year old boy, for his 10th birthday we had a DNA test done and apparently he’s GSD x Collie x Spaniel….all we know is he looks like an eternal puppy! He’s tennis ball obsessed, loves his teddy bears and Axl is his best friend in the whole world. He loves snuggling up on the couch with us and long lie ins at the weekend in bed with us.
Axl is our thirteen year old lab, collie, staff, springer, retriever mix! He absolutely loves pulling the stuffing out of Dee Dee’s teddies and a good game of tug o’ war! He can be found pawing us repeatedly as he needs a good fuss at all times!
Panda is our little Dotty, she is eleven years old and came to us in December 2023. She has lots of lumps and bumps, only three teeth and doesn’t have great vision. She loves to run around with her brothers and to be carried in her rucksack on long walks. She has lots of jumpers thanks to all our friends.
Buddy is our eight year old cocker spaniel and he is bonkers! Buddy lives life at a million miles an hour apart from when he’s snuggled on our chests or lay on his back like a baby having cuddles! He loves to do Cani-X with his dad and now thanks to his brothers also likes to charge in and out of the sea.
Max is our six year old Springer Spaniel, unfortunately Ben’s brother passed away and Max was his soul dog- so Max came to live with us in 2025. He is absolutely bonkers when he is on a walk and never stops! His whole bottom half wags-not just his little stumpy tail!
Monty is our gorgeous cat-he is the most loving little boy and we are so happy to have adopted him when a customer passed away. He is extremely vocal and can be found lying on our bed shouting at us for his treats. He purrs so loudly that he sounds like a jet engine and he loves nothing more than snuggling up in bed with us.
Flo is our crazy tortoise! We have no idea how old she is as she was a rescue when she came to us. She’s an absolute madam and enjoys parkour in our garden and trashing the plants in her viv!
Aimee….
My experience of walking dogs and caring for small animals comes from many years of dog ownership, small pet ownership, working in rescue, fostering and working in kennels.
Despite growing up with animals such as cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, mice, hamsters, African land snails, stick insects, horses and koi carp, dogs have always been my favourite animals (apart from Elephants but I think I’d struggle to walk them in Wigan!) and I can’t walk past a dog in the street without having a cuddle and chatting away to it.....even at the age of almost 40!!
I have fostered dogs for various rescues, not just specific breed rescues but sanctuaries also which means that I have had hands on experience with lots of different breeds, all of whom come with their different challenges.
I have worked with cats, rabbits, guinea pigs and other small animals when working for the sanctuary and not only that but I am comfortable and experienced in administering medications to various animals which is often the reason why an owner won’t leave their animal to go on holiday-or to that family wedding!
This is why Mucky Pups was born…… to help everyone be able to enjoy life and holidays, but to know that their beloved animals are looked after too!
My academic background a long time ago focused on Law, Criminology and Social Work and I have a Pass with distinction from UCLAN in Law, Criminology, Race and Ethnic Studies and Sociology completed in 2007 and a 2:1 from Lancaster University in Criminology in 2009. I also partially completed an MA in Social Work.
I have worked for St Helen's Council and GMP/ Merseyside Police with young offenders and worked for the YJB and King's College, London in various YOIs and STCs (therefore was fully enhanced CRB and DBS checked).
My current DBS was completed in August 2022 via parkrun as I am a Run Director for both Junior and Adult events.
I am OFQUAL Level 3 CPR and First Aid trained by Rachel Bean (RVN) who’s the best in the business! I also like to host Rachel’s courses as not only does it mean that I keep my own knowledge up to date, but that lots of my Mucky Pup mums and dads come on the course to know what to do in emergencies too. (Please see the We Recommend section for more information on Rachel and her courses)
Please click on the photos to scroll through, I do love a good snuggly selfie!
Ben is my partner in crime, my best friend and husband!
We do everything together and you will often find us both out doing cat visits- Ben has a real way with cats and they adore him!
The Mucky Pups go bonkers if he comes out to play with us, and he usually ends up covered in mud like myself but loves every minute.
Ben is also First Aid and CPR trained by Rachel Bean and has a DBS via parkrun as he is also an RD for Juniors and Adults.
